Nice turtle! My experience with Musks is that they don't actively hunt fish that are swimming. But bottom dwellers are another thing. Those catfish might not last long. But then again maybe your turtle will totally leave them alone if they stay out of his way. The gouramis might be alright but I've never tried them. I've had good luck with S.A. cichlids like Convicts and Firemouths. I currently keep a Polleni with some Mud and Musk Turtles.

That is a loggerhead musk turtle. I have never seen him snap at any of fish. I hope he stays this way. He is well fed everyday with pellets and shrimps.

The gourami are top swimmers and never had any issue with the turtle. The catfishes are the dumbest creatures. They would swim right in front of the turtle head then tried to bury themselves underneath him. Lol I am not sure why but the catfish seem to enjoy digging themselves under the turtle.

BTW what kind of catfish are those?

they're Sun catfish. They have big appetites and i recently saw one at a LFS which wasn't far off 12".

Good tank community, just don't let the turtle get too hungry I think. ;)

I like gourami's, such colorful fish. Thats a healthy looking turtle. Must have a great filter to keep the water that clean! every turtle I've owned was very messy.

Yep I try not to. I am afraid his instinct will take over if he get hungry.

it's a 40g tank with emp 280 as filter. I am kind of amazed how great of a job it is doing. This type of turtle is not messy like slider turtle. You should get one.

I cant say what i feel about this tank because Grant Hill say it aint cool.

Haha how did you know I had a red-eared slider. I think sliders get as many people into turtles as Oscars get poeple into fish! I had a Box turtle, Mudd Turtle and a Slider. All the newbie turtles lol.
