This seems really cheap and I prefer this type of media over the traditional bioballs.. Anyone have any doubts of this compared to a brand name like bio-max or azoo etc? i buy Azoo glass rings liek this and am familiar in buying it in Liters... Anyone know what 300grams(10.5 oz) of this would be in liters? i need about 30+G of bio real soon and don't want to focus on biobalss but we all know good filter media is not cheap in any way :nilly:

I cant say I have experience with all the brands, but I would at least try the cheaper brands if it was me.

Unless I am missing something that does not seem like a great deal. You can find pretty much the same thing at your LFS or Petco/Petsmart for a similar price. Usually they are sold in larger volumes like 16-20 oz packages for $10-15. Price per oz is probably very similar.

300 grams at 7.99 is 2.7 cents per gram. With tax you can get biomax at Petsmart for about 13 bucks for 500 grams so 2.6 cents a gram. Biomax would be better choice.

500 grams of biomax is .67 liters so by the liter, online, biomax will cost you about $18 per liter.

On Drfostersmith.com you can get 3 liters of Azoo bio glass for $24.69 http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4136+4140+4173&pcatid=4173

or 5 liters of eheim efhisubstrat for $44.99 http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4136+4140+4327&pcatid=4327
