I grew up in the high desert in CA. Pinon hills to be exact. I was doing some yard work and found this guy. Growing up I caught hundreds, maybe thousands of reptiles, including venomous snakes. I have never seen one of these, he's also, by far the biggest lizard I've seen/caught up there. It was probably 15 inches long with tail, and its head maybe a little bigger than a quarter. It had a snake type tongue that was blue. It looks like a skink of some sort. They're probably more common up at a little higher elevation. I let him go in my folks pool yard. I hope he stays!
