So I got a call from my mom earlier, She had gone over to my sisters apartment to visit and saw an aquarium sitting against the brick wall that surrounds their trash dumpster. So Me not being one to turn down a free tank i headed straight over there to check it out. When i got there i found that it was actually a tank sitting on a wood cabinet stand, with an Emperor 400 biowheel and a box of rocks sitting in it.
So in the back of my jeep it went and now its sitting in my kitchen til i find a suitable place for it in my apartment....im running out of room lol.
The tank measures 24"Tx36"Wx18"D. If i did the math correctly that should be about 67 gallons.
Thats a 67 gallon fairly tall tank with an Emperor biowheel 400 I GOT FOR FREE :headbang2
I'm thinking someone probably got evicted and the landlord didnt wanna deal with it and set it out for trash.
My sis said it was embarassing that i was taking something that was put out for trash...
I said screw you its a free tank :grinyes:

I work for my local town gov. and my co workers text me and give the location of where they see tanks and i go get them if its worth it

lucky, all i ever find are waterstained and calcium encrusted ten gallons that rarely hold water on the occasional large trash dates

Well this one was definately worth it IMO lol. Even if it leaks i can seal it WAY cheaper than just the tank alone would be lol.
Also it had about an inch of water and some sand still in the bottom so i know for sure at least the bottom is water tight, but a test filling will definately be in order once i figure out where im gonna put it.
Im thinking this might be the tank for my first SW set up. Well the first one since i was a kid anyway.

You know whats even more embaressing? pulling up to a trash heep to pick up a tossed tank at the same exact time as another car. AWKwARD! two couples leaping out of the car :nilly: lol. thats a very very nice pick up. i can tell you that when we were moving some fish keeper got luck cause we had to put out on the curb 3 20 and 29g with stands lights and all.

Ya My landlady has very specific instructions that when she finds ANY kind of "fish stuff" in an apartment she is to call me and let me go through it all before it goes anywhere lol. I was pissed when i found out the old landlord cleaned out an apartment full of tanks and trashed em all including the two 180 gallon tanks. But the one now agreed from now on any fishkeeping stuff goes through me before anyone touches it lol.

Lol. I got my newest 55g that way. A friend of mine moved into a new house, and the previous owner just LEFT a perfectly clean 55g tank w stand and lids in the garage. Great find!

That'd be a nice find too.
