so today i was doing my WC or rather about to start them, so grabbed my kit out from the shed and as i was attaching my drain pipe to the pump i use i notice the wires all beared. i used this last week, lucky for me i didn't put my hands in the water. it has now been retired. it only gets used for water changes so not a must have bit of kit as i can syphon the water out. make sure you check your stuff before you use it.

Very happy you caught that and thanks for sharing. I am a firm believer of safety first.

This may also be useful as it concerns electricity around our tanks:

i'm alway checking bits and bobs it probably unlikely to happen to filters in the tank but this is always being moved and twisted so was bound to happen and it's about 5 years old and was even used on a pond at one point so nothing lost it cost £6 at £1.20 a year i had my uses out of it lol. also lucky my kids didn't want to help today or they could have been hurt too.
