Check your local stoneyard/quarry for cheap rocks

Here are some rocks I took some out of the tank but this is the river stone I used I have a ton of it

I have always liked giant rocks in my tanks but are they a pain to clean? Do they trap so much dirt as they create dead spaces preventing water circulation? Also, I see you need some scrubbing to do on your panel.
There not a pain to clean just stir up the water in the rocks and idk if it does create dead circulation but it's perfect for smaller or small fish cause they can hide from the larger fish

I just redid my cichild tank for this reason had a huge phosphate spike from decay ..
I had med gravel as a base that was my biggest mistake ,replaced it with pool filter sand which is very fine it helps by keeping the debris on top. I moved all my large rocks so there is space on the sides and front and direct my power heads at the pile rocks.
So far it keeping it cleaner .
Tank is still a bit cloudy. I still need some plants. I was going to put some driftwood but now I'm not sure. Took pics of 2 different angles. This tank is a 55
