Would you rather have a double cheeseburger or two single cheeseburgers? (And why)

I personally would prefer two cheeseburgers. I like more food as opposed to MORE food, if you get what I mean.

I guess it would depend on the patty. If it's a super thin one, then double, if it's a decent thickness then two.

This is true, however I usually don't like eating one big double cheeseburger and then being sad that I no longer have a burger. Two cheeseburgers eliminates this problem. Two double cheeseburgers is obviously optimal, however.
