Hey all,
I decided to try chemi-pure in my canister about 2 weeks ago because my nitrates were a bit higher than I'd like. Nothing bad, but considering the over filtration and plants I had growing in an ac20, I'dve thought theyd be lower. Anyway, I rinsed it well, but the next day my water had gone white-cloudy, like a bacteria bloom. I figured it was dust or something, but it hasn't gone away 2 weeks later. My nitrates haven't seemed to budge from ~6-7ppm before and after I added it. Have I somehow caused my tank to recycle? When It was added, I did my usual rinse of the sponged and scrubbies in tank water. I'm running Prefilter sponges->pot scrubbers->chemi-pure->purigen at the moment. I'm considering removing the chemipure at this point, but I don't want to mess everything up more. Anyone have this problem with CP? I've always heard good things about it and CP-elite.

or any interesting ideas on how to cure a bacteria bloom? other than clean up dead stuff/old food, water changes, etc which I already keep up with. probably just time, but i'm impatient and don't like people seeing my tanks dirty.

I doubt chemipure has anything to do with it .I used it for twenty yrs w/o a problem, bacterial bloom water changes w UV will clear yout tank, Invest in one you will be suprised how quick it will clear. I never used one for twenty yrs and when I did I never will now not use one,
