Would chemi-pure be able to replace both carbon and bio rings? I currently have bio ring and carbon in my canister filter. I replace the carbon about every 2 weeks to control tank odors. I have read about chemi-pure and that it is supposed to last 6 months. Does this stuff really work as long as they claim and will it be as effective as my current setup? If so it will save me money not having to replace the carbon so often.

chemipure is great but I would take the six months with a grain of salt you need regular partial water exchanges and you need the biomedia for nitrifying bacteria to break down waste otherwise you will continually upset the biological cycle not good. Some people feel chemipure is no better than carbon but I have used them all over 30 yrs and I stll prefer Chemipure especially now with the elite type my water is pristine and I use it in both reef and livebearer tanks. Strong Biological media some chemipure and regular water chnges and your fish should thrive. Good Luck!
