Chemical filtration

Are you for or against chemical filtration? Particulary charcoal. This would be for 75gallon festae tank and 180gallon discus tank.

Same as salt. Only use it if you need it.

haven't used charcoal for well over a decade. probably closer to two decades.

neither 'for' nor 'against'.. IF I can easily remove it, and have good BB in the works. It depends on how people prefer to maintain their system. can be good thing if water changes are lax. Before I learned the importance of WCs, it saved many a fish. kind of makes me cringe to remember all that.

If you keep up with regularly scheduled water changes, chemical filtration is not really necessary. However, there are times when you may want to run carbon to remove medication.

I only use carbon for removing medication. I do use CPE in my biocube from time to time though.
