I've been running chemical-pure and chemi-pure elite in my eheim 2217 canister filters and was thinking of trying out matrix carbon. Other than the initial cost difference what could I expect if I were to switch from chemi-pure to matrix carbon?

I'd like to hear opinions myself. I've never tried the MatrixCarbon, but it is significantly cheaper, so I'm interested.

I know most people say frequent water changes make it unnecessary, but I don't fully trust my water supply here in Baltimore (it's usually fine, but there are issues with the 'main' all the time and I'm sure things in the water spike from time to time) and I have noticed a slightly nicer appearance when I run the chemipure and/or purigen. Only tanks I don't run them in are planted.

I usually run chemi-pure and Purigen but I'm curious to see how long matrix carbon lasts n what the results look like. On my 125 I use a 2217, emp. 400, and a aquaclear 110. The 2217 n the 110 both are being run with chemi-pure. My 75 just has a 2217 on it with both chemi-pure n Purigen.
I typically do one to two water changes a week n I have been replacing the chemi-pure every six months.

Could I expect similar results from matrix carbon?
