Can you clean the algae of aquarium plants with household chemicals like bleach
or vinegar? I'm really tired of scrubbing the algae off every week.

What type of filter do you have now? you can use the filter system like this

so Plants in the sump tank use up the nutrients in the water that the algae needs to survive. No nutrition and the algae dies off and disappears. Takes some time to achieve balance. Do not add algae killers or do massive water changes. Let your tank cycle.

If they are live plants both those things will kill the plants, and when you put the plants back, the fish will die unless you use (in the case of bleach) a chlorine remover.
If they are plastic plants, bleach will work (no other chemicals in the bleach)
but you must also use a chlorine remover for the bleach.
An Alum dip is sometimes used to remove snails and may remove algae,
Nice planted sump nhacgua.
