So I setup a ten gallon tank to breed cherry shrimp as feeders. They've been continually breeding, but it's been difficult to tell exactly how many I have because the tank is heavily planted. I have a hob filter with plants inside, and I put some polyfiber in the intake of the filter to prevent baby shrimp from getting inside. I decided to clean out the filter today, and there were like 20 extremly red baby shrimp in the hob filter. I'm assuming they've been eating the plant roots, but does anyone have any idea how they got in and survived the filter? I mean I crammed the intake with polyfiber, so the flow of the filter is slowed significantly, and I didn't think shrimp could make it through an impellor, but there were like 20 in the filter. Anyone have a better idea for preventing baby shrimp from getting in a filter?
