Would never consider using as a staple for my fish, but we had some chicken breast leftover from dinner last night... rather than throwing it out, I decided to give a little bit to my turtles. Then, more out of curiosity that anything else, I dropped 3-4 small pieces in my 180 (housing a gar, oscar, ocell PB). They all nailed it without even thinking about it. I figured the gar and oscar would try, but I was surprised that the bass hit it immediately.

So anyway, I tried searching the forum and couldn't find anything. So is chicken bad for fish for any reason or is there any reason not to drop a little in every now and again just to mix it up a little?

Disclaimer: This was just boiled chicken breast. No spices or sauces or anything.

i don't know how it could harm it..... I no expert but i guess it would be ok. some chicken do fall in the lake or river in the wild but nor boiled. LOL. just don't mainly feed chicken to ur fish and turtle as a staple food.

Given as a treat to some of my fish, and crayfish. They will eat it, I also give leftover shrimp, or worms, but it is a larger meal than they few pellets than they typically eat. So be prepared to have a little extra poop in there.

I have read articles stating that fish cannot digest mammalian meat as humans but i do feed my fish chicken as a treat once in a while.give them small pieces so that it doesnt cause indigestion.chicken meat is a good source of vitamins nd minerals

Thanks for input all... I was having a hard time coming up with any reason why it would cause issues, all I could think of was that it wasn't a "marine" meat.

And just to re-state, I am definitely not talking about giving it to my fish as any kind of regular supplement. Maybe once a month if there is extra from a recipe like there was last night.
