Hey guys, just wanted to ask what can I do with my 8" Orinocensis. Problems with poor appetite. He just kept on bullying the fishes inside the tank but will not eat them after putting it inside its mouth he will just let it out after 2 seconds. Is there any medicine I can give. Do you guys think it 's an internal parasite thing? please help thanks in advanced:)

could be any number of things or a combo of things. Most likely poor water quality ie Amonia or an internal parisite .....would test water and also do water changes first... then go on to parisites....Also something else just came to mind are the feeders live possably to large?

Il put my money on sick feeders his color is washed out and ill bet theres are washed out also. At 8" i would have him non -live trained introduce him to some tillapia and shrimp maybe then to a large pellets then give him feeders as a treat and to keep his general moral up .
How are you getting feeders from a store or growing your own? Do you quarantine them ?

Feeders shouldnt really be in his diet. As stated check your water parmams. How often do you do water changes? What is your stock and how big is your tank? What is the filtration?

If you are feeding store bought feeders chances are very very good that you have introduced parasites of all sorts into the system. Like the other fellas stated, try and get away from live food asap, and treat your tank with some sort of anti parasitic meds if all your water parameters check out good. Prazipro seems to work really good. It doesnt affect water quality, doesnt stain, and typically only needs to be used once.

Wait a minute.....this thread is two years old. So what's the outcome?
