I have been doing some research about tank mates for Oscars. According to Wikipedia... "They also get along with aggressive fish such as convict cichlids."
My question is, can they get along with other cichlids, or just convicts?

They can get along with almost anything semi aggressive that doesn't fit in their mouth. A large non aggressive fish is just a punching bag but an extremely aggro one can tear an oscar up.

they get along fine with other semi-aggressive cichlids and large peaceful species (severums, etc)

I am pretty sure that they'll get along with most, if not all, of the earth diggers. They should work with anything that can stand up for itself: Nics, snooks, jd, fire mouth, cons, any severums, uro, uaru, there are plenty that an oscar may be able to work with as they are not overly aggro.

that's a pretty good list excpet that I wouldn't say uro's are normally that compatible with them, they are usually much more aggressive than oscars

Well all i Know is that my Oscars and JD get along for the most part. The female JD can be a little pushy at times, but all in all they are good together.
