[h=2]Hi all! I would like to keep cichlids. I have room for a 36 g bowfront. I'm guessing convicts would be the right choice. Wondering what other types of fish could also be in there? Thanks![/h]

How about some
1. Kribsensis Cichlids
2. Angels
3. Apistogrammas
4. Jewels
5. Smaller geophagus
6. Blue acara
7. Rams

Thanks! The tanks is a sand substrate with some rock piles om either side and a big rock in the middle that goes about a third of the way up. basically the top 1/2 of the tank is open swimming area but there are no real caves. will that enviroment work? Thanks!

Good choices right there! Rams are a neat choice. However if you plan on getting convitcts I'd reconsider putting anything with them that isn't as aggressive as them.

Thanks all. I went with three electric tellow labs and 3 blue acei along with 5 tiger barbs. Any advice as to care are appreciated. Thanks!

I normally wouldn't recommend Africans for such a small tank. They do better in 4 ft+ tanks. Also, the Barbs probably will not fare well with the Africans as they reach adulthood.

A 55 is a good start for Africans - they are extremely aggressive & it is usually suggested to overstock them to turn down the aggression. Also - research, research, research as far as compatible species. I am not that familiar with Africans as far as species, but maybe someone will be come along to help you out on the compatibility issues.
