I have an Artica chiller in my aquarium and the turtle somehow lifted the intake hose out of the water and stopped all flow. I wasn't home so so the chiller was plugged in for hours with no water flowing through it. I unplugged it and havn't try to run it again. Is the chiller toast now?

Have you tried it? It's not ideal, but if it was running when you found it then I don't think it's overheated catastrophically. Run it in the sink or something if you're worried.

Does the chiller have an internal thermostat? If it does the chiller would have cooled the empty chamber to the pre-selected temperature then shut off. It would have stayed shut off until the ambient air raised the temperature to where the thermostat would have kicked in again.

If the chiller uses an external sensor it would continue to run until you discovered the issue. Running a chiller on an empty chamber should not cause damage.

I highly doubt there was any damage caused to your chiller!
