Chinchlilla

A good place to start researching may be "palpating a chinchilla." I remember palpating rabbits to see if they were pregnant, but that was a long time ago and I don't know if it is the same with chinchillas. It has to be done very carefully and the closer the doe was to delivery the easier it was.
 
I've bred chinchillas in the past before and palpating chinchillas is from hard to impossible. My only guess on when they were pregnant was just by sight itself. I keep an eye out for mating and pretty much judge a due date. Mostly, the time of the births came as a suprise to us.
