Have some firemouths and tetra what do you think. Seems like lots of people really hate the Chinese algae eater...

Tetra and CAE. Looking for trouble IMHO.

What I would really recommend, SAE. Or even false SAE.

I already got the thing had it backwards, thought Chinese was good and saimese was bad. What kind trouble do they cause?

CEA are not entirely herbivores, and get less so as they get bigger. When they get above a certain size, they will attack the tetras. I think the firemouths will be all right.

And I don't even think CEA look all that good.

I wouldn’t do it. I had a CAE pin down a firemouth and sucking on its side. It was smaller than the firemouth. After that it was fed to an Oscar.

CAE will clean surfaces like walls of aquarium but they can get aggressive. The SAE will clean algae off plants and crevices and are peaceful. They do different things in an aquarium.

Just get some SAE and Bristlenose

I think I will put my cae in with my green terror and see what happens.

True SAE will stop eating algae once the get full grown but they don't have the sociopath personality of the CAE. The CAE are just a lousy critter. False SAE are good for planaria outbreaks.
