can anybody tell me about these , i have heard nothing but bad things about these such as there aggressive and suck on fish and kill plants , can anybody that uses these give me some insight

I have one, and my boy friend has one as well. They aren't too great in community tanks, which is where mine is. They chase fish like mad, but they are excellent at cleaning the sides and bottoms of tanks.
But, my boyfriend has one in his tank with three cichlids and dinosaur bichir and he cleans well, and stays away from the other fish. I think they're just bullies if the other fish are easy targets.

Juveniles at 4 inches and smaller often do their jobs cleaning up the algae however as they mature, they lose the taste for algae and resort to sucking slime coat of other fish. They do grow to 8-10 inches despite being slow growers and can get nastier as they grow.

No, not his own tank, just his own cave in tank you have. From my keeping experience, they seem to be less aggressive when they have their own dark hole to go to. Mine was more aggressive when he was one of just a few fish than he is now that the tank is at max capacity. He's around 8" now. The second one I have has never shown signs of aggression, but has always had his own rock to hide under--it is about 4.5".
