Chinese high fin banded shark

Chinese hi fin banded sharks actually aren't schooling fish. They are shoaling fish, which means that they form a very loose "school" while they forage and it only becomes tight knit when there is a predator hunting them (which doesn't happen much at all when they are 2 foot or larger). They can be raised just fine in very small groups (1-4) without any serious behavioral issues. However, without being raised in a large group, they don't pick up the shoaling/schooling mentality.

have anyone seen a red Chinese hi-fin banded shark. I just got a black one. been reading on them and seen this picture and I really want one.

The black one becomes the red one at maturity. They are the same species.

Wow so that would take about 8-10 years for maturity. they live up to 20-25 years.

So when you guys say they need cold water, does that mean they could live outdoors in a pond year round? I a 10" pairof these at the LFS the other day and thought about this.
