can they live in a 85 F tank

I don't think so, but I may be wrong. Most sites I've seen say they like colder temperatures, but I've read alot of accounts of people keeping them in warmer water and some sites even say their highest temperature range is around 85 degrees

You could try it but why would you want to attempt to keep a COLD water fish in 85 degree water?... Even if they tough it out I'd bet it would surely put some stress on them and reduce their life span. I've seen people keeping dragon goby in FW when they should be brackish. They're surviving but it certainly has to put some sort of stress on them.

Chinese hi fins are meant to be kept in cooler water, with koi-sturgeon-or your comet goldfish.

I had some smaller ones in a tropical tank, and they did well, but they did not grow as fast as they should have.

So, I moved them in with my koi...

Needless to say, 3" hi fins + 30" koi = LUNCH.
