I haven't kept one, but that site is wrong! If a fish grows to 2 foot then it should be kept in something that is atleast 28" wide so it can turn around.
 
I have one and I must say they look really nice when they are young but man can they get ulgy and HUGE.
 
I know what U mean ,just something about them that makes U lov'em:hearts: if its the hunch back, or the hi-fin i cant resist.:D Sad thing is they just get plain fugly with age. i know one that met up with a asian red tail cat.:OMG:

And it's still living! Just no dorsal.:(
 
If I ever get a coldwater pond with koi, goldfish I will get some of these too.
