I haven't really found much info on them other that if bought young most don't make it too adults
I had two of them but never lived long. Some friends of mine told me that they dont live in warm waters over 22c and mine is always 28c. I wish to get an other one but I thing it will die like the others did so for now I will let it go :(

better when schooling, slow growers so try not to put them with fishes that grow fast also are well tempered and picked on easily

Very slow grower and eater. They do great in ponds with lots of algae because they can't compete for food. Got several for years now. About 12" now.

I had 3 of them at 3" in my tropical community tank for quite some time. The temp was always about 78 degrees, and they did fine.

I then transitioned them into my 1500 gallon koi tank, and someone in there decided that they, as long as my black moore goldfish would be a great snack.

They are VERY slow growers, and they don't keep their pattern once they get larger.

They are coldwater and feed on algea. I kept them with my koi and plan on getting sone more. I feed them algea tablets and when I get blooms of algea I stop feeding and they "clean" my pond. They lose there attractive look (to most people but not me). There "shark fin" bends backwards when an adult. They do better in schools of 3+ and get huge.
