Chinese perch, Marble gar info

Have been thinking about adding a Chinese perch or a marbled gar to one of my tanks, currently have a silver arrow, a red bellied paku, a black knife, and a small jewel cichlid. Really want the Chinese perch since they sit on the bottom but not sure how aggressive they are don't want him to eat the jewel or anything else in the tank. But really don't know anything about them and info on the internet is limited. Other thing I've been looking at is a marbled gar which I here isn't a gar at all, main thing
I'm worried about is if I got one him eating the silver Arowana, but I really don't know much about him either due to limited info on line. Anything helps so I'd appreciate anything.

Marbled gar would be a better tankmates ,however he still might eat the jewel if he's small enough,Chinese perch would eat the jewel really easy.

Yep,the Chi perch will try to eat any other fish that it can size permitting and they don't stay on the bottom.Mine hangs at or near the surface most of the time waiting for food to be dropped in.It also cruises around the tank at times.
