What is the easiest way to distinguish these? I found a "perch" at the LFS which I thought was a Chinese perch, but after seeing Oddball's juvenile barramundi I am not sure what it is. Any help is appreciated.

The fish in question is around 4"

umkm 4inch barras do have patterning. urs is probably almost 2 ft ptc so no at that size they dont.

They have a little bit but almost solid color when you compare to the striking pattern of chinese perch..

i agree that the chinesse has pernament markings whereas barras have some as juvies as they need camouflage so it really depends on ther environment. i hav 2 and one is in a tanin stained tank and is almost fully black and the other has a few blotches or is sometimes fully silver. of course adult barras are literally the top of the food chain as they get 6'!!!!
