Any experience with this combo? Recently lost my longtime centerpiece fish I my ray tank and would like something odd to take its place.

Have always loved grouper and this seems like the best alternative to one.

Any thoughts or experience related to this perch would be helpful!

Chinese perch are pretty peaceful and seem to ignore anything that they cannot eat,in my experience with them.

My rays are all about a foot across minimum except for my pups but the only perch I can find are online around 3 inches so I'm not imminently worried about the perch eating one of my rays

Right, the perch would be in danger lol....good thing about Siniperca is that they grow pretty rapidly so you could keep them in a small tank and feed them well and they could safely go in with the rays in a few months.

Yeah, absolutely. I have a section in my sump that's about the size of a 75g I use to grow out things if I need but I also have a QT rack he can grow out in if needed. They entertaining to feed? I'm torn between a perch and a peacock bass as I want something entertaining to feed to complement the rays

Bass are “fun” with rays for a while… once they hit the 18-20” range they become some what of an annoyance when trying to get the rays enough food. Large bass are garbage disposals…just hard to keep them “regulated” in a ray tank. Sooo… i vote perch lol… ??

Well, they are almost as entertaining to watch as peacock bass but there is nothing like getting a tank shower from the surface splashing of a nice sized cichla. They are both very greedy eaters, young Siniperca can really stretch their stomachs in order to hold food.

Are they as "explosive" in feeding?

You probably have this covered with the rays, but I’d make sure you have tons of oxygen in the system at those higher temps!
