My bestfriend's water dragon, I believe, has a really bad eye infection.
She used some Eco Friendly dirt from some guy at Pet Smart for him, well ever since she used the bedding, his eyes have been milky white. He got some of the dirt in his eyes and he refuses to open the eye its in. Now he is also not wanting to open the good eye, which is now having the same problem.
We managed to get some of it out of his better eye, he can now open it and it looks fine but I'm not sure how long it will last.

I'll try to get a picture of his eye if we can get him to keep it open long enough.

But I was wondering if there was anything we could do for him without having to take him to a vets office.

The first thing that needs done is to switch it to a different substrate, such as a bark/wood substrate e.g. Zoo Med Repti Bark, in order to prevent this from getting worse and/or happening again.

You might want to see about soaking the lizard in warm water; it might help to get all of the dirt out of its eyes.

you should get him to a vet when they are young they usually havent learned to use water to clean particles out of their eyes, it is proably some substrate. it doesnt sound like its an allergic reaction to the eco friendly bedding, is he having any respitory or eating problems?

We have been soaking him and rinsing his eyes daily. Well she has, I just saw this all today
She was using Zoo Med New Zealnad Sphagnum Moss and it was fine, this was also BEFORE the dirt, so she switched it back to the moss and he hasn't been getting any better.

Breathing is fine.
Some days he will eat and some days he refuses to.

she should try to make sure he eats everyday or atleast most of the time if he suffers from malnutrition his eye will only get worse. reptaid works really well, there is a dragon & a leapord gecko at my work with one closed eye ive been treating him with it and he seems to be doing bettereach day.
hope this helps some.

Try using some reptile eye drops to flush the eye out. Zoomed makes them for turtles but they work fine for lizards too.
