I got myself some chingmix Maxima SP 50 for my FH, and he really does not like to eat it. The pellets are pretty small and I have been feeding him bigger pellets. How do I get him to eat this stuff? Should I starve him a bit? That was some damn expensive food, my Midas likes it a lot. I wonder if it will work on frontosas.

Every cichlid I tried feeding ching to did not like it. I guess it just doesnt taste good. If your fh doesnt go for it, keep trying, but do not feed only ching mix, as it does contain hormones. I know many people like to believe that its hormone free, its not. I once too thought it was safe. You might want to stick to a regular cichlid diet. good luck.

what the exp date on it? my fh wouldn't eat any of the new bag i bought, looked for an exp date and it didn't have any.

chingmix is hormone free and why did you get sp50 is has some defects like if you over feed your fish will lose it's pearls as it is a strong formula but they would go back to normal in a few months or weeks. try getting sp80.

do not feed as the staple food

variety

how do you know that it is hormone free? Because the bag says hormone free? Infact, the last bag I bought said "free hormones", I'm sure they meant hormone free, but even their grammer cannot be trusted. No sort of FDA approval, no ching products available in any chain pet stores even though this is a highly requested food. Many reputable Asian flowerhorn breeders in the Bay Area, although they use it themselved, agree, It has hormones. I'm not trying to start a fight, but these are the reasons I think it is + for Hormones. Plus it works too well :). What reasons do people have in thinking it doesnt have them? I could be wrong so let me know. sorry for the derail.
