Morning,

I just purchased a used 135 gallon Allglass Aquarium used. Once I got i home and started cleaning it up I noticed a small chip in back glass almost in center. It looks like a small rock chip maybe 1/8 to 1/4" in size and doesn't look deep. I have water in it as we speak with no leaks. cannot get a pic at this time. Is this safe to setup like this? Or is this trouble waiting to happen. Thanks for any thoughts and advice in advance

This may sound funny but you could call apple auto glass and see if they could fill it... they do it to prevent stress fractures in a windshield.

with a chip like that I have to ask a couple questions. Where is the tank going to be lacated. As Vibrations and sound waves can cause it to crack just like a windshield. Second is it on the inside or outside of tank. If on the inside get a 4"x4" piece of glass and silicone it right over the spot. Then put a rock in front of it so you cant see it from the front. On the outside you could do the same thing but it would mess with the background so painting the tank wouldnt work right. I might just fill it with silicone if it was me.

Thanks for the reply, It is on the outside about 3/4 up . It will be in my Dining room so I wouldn't think vibration would be an issue. I think a background or paint would hid it for the most part, I mostly wondering about this being a weak spot or not
