My aro's been having a couple of chip scale lately.....Does anyone have any experience with this. My water parameters are all fine Ni 0, Na 5ppm, Amonia 0, HP 7.4.

20% per week..... My PH was high (7.9) a couple week ago due to the coral sand. Since i've remove it 2 weeks ago my PH is neutral now (7.4). I've added Almond leaves also. Anyone else using almond leaves? DD

wow 20% per a week,i think you should do 40%-50% waterchange a week,im sure your aro will improve and heal up the chipped scales

What are the tankmates?

Steve

For the chipped scales try to keep the ph consistent. This includes during water changes. Chipped scales can occur when the ph suddenly drops or rises to quickly. 7.4 is not neutral but it's fine as long as you keep it stable. Try to never let the ph change more than around 0.25 in a 24hour period. Good water parameters and stable ph should help fix the issue.

Ive got it on my RTG but after looking at the damage done when my dat nips at the rtg i think its done by the dat, maybe there is some other cause too,but ive seen the dat do it with my own eyes.
Wc are not making any difference to it either and i do at least 2x 40% a week.
No other fish in my tank has any problems either so cant see it being water quality.
