I have 2 female and 1 male Melanochromis Chipokee. The females are gravid with their second brood. The first set of fry from both mothers are living happily together in 1/2 of a 10g fry sanctuary. The problem though is I have no room now for the mothers to have the new batch, what with all the others breeding now.
Here is my question. The fry do well together once the mothers are gone, they can't tell each other apart from what I can tell. The mothers both became gravid within 12 hours of each other. . . no kidding, that male's a pimp
.
Has anyone ever had any luck with Mbuna females of same species raising their fry together? If the fry don't recognize a difference in each other and get along fine, would the mothers eat each other's fry?
If nobody knows for sure, I might just try it for the sake of being able to tell everyone what happens. It's not like I need more Chipokee. NO REALLY, COME TAKE SOME OFF MY HANDS!!!
