I recently acquired a used 55g aquarium that came along with a wooden stand/canopy (what I was actually after). The owners said the aquarium leaked and I figured I would go ahead reseal it. After removing the old silicone and the top and bottom frames (braces were broken and need to be replaced), I noticed this chip/crack (photos attached b/c it wouldn't let me embed from my desktop).

All of the class is still there and does not budge, but there is an obvious crack going through that little bit of the corner. I am guessing this is where the previously mentioned leak was coming from (in addition to the silicone being well overdue for replacement).

My question is can I reseal the aquarium, paying special attention to the areas inside and outside of this area? I would like for my uncle to be able to use this aquarium for his fish and it not being too large of an aquarium, I was hoping that a liberal resealing would do the job.

Let me know what you guys think and if you've ever dealt with anything like this. Thanks :)

It's more of a crack than a chip. The cracked area is still intact and being held in place by silicone, but I don't know just how well it's being held in.
