chlorine flush?

You have a chlorine test kit, right? If not, you can buy a cheapie for five bucks. Test your tap water and after you treat it to check that it is all neutralized.

Still, it is best to put off all water changes for at least a week to let everything flush through. Oddball had some very expensive deaths due to contaminants that got flushed through the water lines from an unauthorized dig.

I believe that this is done on a periodic basis or if they get a sample that isn't as good as it should be, after any significant system maintenance, or unusual amounts of rain/flooding. Its kinda like a shock treatment you would do for a pool. It ensures that the system is clear of living bacteria.

A chlorine test kit is a good idea, cheap insurance of water system changes.

They do this every year to clean the water lines. They actually increase the cl2( chlorine ) to burn the lines and kill any bad bacteria that might be in the lines. We do it here every year! Ive been in water treatment for many years its a good thing. FYI double your water condition if you can. I use prime and its safe to double that particular product!
