I just got a 1000gal pond and filled it with tap water since i don have several hundred litres of de-chlor id rather wait for the water to rid of chlorine itself. so my question is how long do i wait?

One day in the sun will do it as long as there are no chlorine stabilizers (chloromines or dissolved organics). An inexpensive chlorine test kit costs $5(US).

Yes. The ultraviolet light from the sun gives the chlorine enough energy to break away from the surface tension of the water.

Run an airstone in the pond for a day and that will do it too. The bubbles and upward current created reduces the surface tension. The bubbles also facilitate in the gas exchange.

k does it mater if its jus one puny airstone? i mean its 10' disare and airstrone buble rings are only 6" diamtre at the most

^ Agreed ^ Well said.:)

Just so you know you can buy super-concentrated de-chlor solutions for ponds, much cheaper than the aquarium stuff. I actually use it for my aquariums - one jug costs about $30 and lasts me for 2 years or so.

Yes but make it at least 24hrs because of your circumstances, go take a nap or watch the fish:D

Your sure it's not chloramines right?
