I just added a single choclate ciclid to my 75 gallon tank. Its about 6 incles long. I also have in this tank am 18 inch pleco and a 6 in peacock eel. The ciclid has taken over the tank and has confined my pleco to one corner. The pet store said to feed it flake food but i fear it is not enough and that is why its mean to the other fish. Is it possible that they will be fine together or should i return the ciclid? I love that it comes to great me at feeding time but dont want the other fish to suffer. Please help!!

A good quality pellet would be better than flake. NLS or omega one are good choices. I would get rid of the 18" pleco it is just a big crap factory. Other wise a 75 is great for a single chocolate cichlid.

i cant get rid of the Pleco as i have had it since it was a baby. i do have some of the pellet food. brine shrimp. any other ideas?

Chocolates benefit from some vegetable matter so I used omega one super veggie pellets along with NLS 1 mm sinking. Good water quality is also important so stay on top of water changes and keep nitrates at or below 10 ppm.

This was one of my breeding pairs. I had three breeding pairs, one of the best cichlids I ever kept.
