Chocolate cichlid growth rate?

They have quite a moderate growth rate ime, certainly not on a par with an Oscar for example which grow insanely fast. Mine was about the same size as yours when I got her in Sept 2020. She is now a thick 7". Still a bit of growing to do yet, she should max out at around 10".

As with all growth rate questions you will always get the best growth with a suitably sized tank, a good varied diet, and most important of all, keep on top of your water changes. This is a recent picture of mine.

Agree with the above.
If you change 50% of the tanks water once per week, it will grow slower than if you change 50% twice per week, etc etc

Bobo had a moderate growth rate to 6" (around 1/2" a month) in just over a year. She exploded for about 4 months, gaining a quick 2 inches then it went back to maybe 1/2" a month. Her final size was 10 1/2" and she weighed 1 1/4 lbs. I think she could have hit 11 easily. She was around 3.
