Are chocolate cichlid mean? If not what go good with it i was thinking of haveing some geos with it but i don't want the geos to get beatten up.?

Not at all. I had to remove mine from my ca/sa community cause he was so docile.. I have him in a tank with another female, and a geo, and they are fine. The female chases the geo when he goes close to their home, but otherwise nothing. You can keep them with your severums as well..
but can it get mean when it get older?I have a chocolate (coypahenoides, not temporalis) with a sev and a bunch of geo's, the sev is more aggressive then anyone else. Of course, temperament varies on an individual basis, but you won't find many more peaceful cichlids then the choc.
They are not agressive, i have a pair in with severums and everyone gets along fine. Even when they are breeding.
Mine did get mean once she hit the 6" mark. She beat up my male Green Terror and my male Severum. She was fine with the Oscar twice her size and fine with Tetras, etc though.
