LFS in the area no longer carry these beautiful fish and I want to start keeping them again.

Does anyone here have some they want to sell?

I live in South Dakota so I am sure they would need to be shipped.

Just let me know if we can work something out.

Thank you

Are you looking for Hypselecara Temporalis or Coryphaenoides?

I have kept both and currently have 4 of the Coryphaenoides.

I believe Jeff Rapps at Tangled Up In Cichlids has both on his list at this time.

I might be willing to part with a couple of mine. The Coryphaenoides are not very aggressive as far as cichlids go although they can be very agressive towards conspecifics. I have had to seperate my group of four. Although, I may have a "pair" forming because 2 of them seem to be toleratating each other. The other 2 had to be removed and are living seperately in different tanks.

The corypheanoides is also a bit more rare in the hobby.
I had been searching for mine for several years.
Here is a pic of one of the guys I have currently.
There breeding coloration is awesome.

That pic does not show the breeding dress although there is a great article on these with some nice pics. The web address is: http://hagblomfoto.com/article_hypselecara.htm

The H. Temporalis is also an awesome chocolate cichlid with a great personality.
Very fast growing and awesome coloration. The one I kept a few years back would change colors often and was absolutely gorgeous. I have been thinking about picking up some more of these as well. Oh ship, I think Rapps is selling a pair of these.:naughty: Ohhhhh nooooo now look at what I've done.
I think i'll be having to set up another tank soon:nilly:

LOL

I know mine would get almost pitch black at times.

They tried to breed a few times but for whatever reason nothing ever came of their attempts.

The only reason I stopped keeping them is when I moved they couldnt handle the stress and died on me.

I have three of these awsome fish. I got my first one at a pet store in Des Moines it was the only one they had and they couldn't order any more. I put a WTB sign up in the same pet store and 6 moths later a guy calls me and has one thats 6", my first one is only 3-4" . And the third one I found was little when I picked him up. There were 3 left out of 10, they had them 3 days. I see them on line but the shipping is expensive, I know they breed in captivity, but I never see them in stores. Try to find them at the fish auctions. good luck bshow
