Does anyone have pics of there chocolate plecos when theyve gotten bigger? Ive heard they lighten in color and was wondering if thats true.

It is true, which is how they got the name Albino chocolate pleco, even though they are not an albino. I don't have any pictures of my older ones though.

Ok cool. Thanks for the reply. I still wouldnt mind seeing a picture of one thats gotten alittle big. Tryed looking on google and dint find much.

I looked up "albino pleco" and a pic of a big chocolate came up, it was on badman's. but you can only see the thumbnail.

This is mine. He/She is about 11". Anyone know what they sell for at this length?

When mine were over 12inches they looked the same.

As far as money...not much as the are easy to get (small)and no one really wants a big pleco.

Albino Chocolates and Regular Chocolates look different. Chocolate pleco's are actually Pterygoplichthys scrophus. There also know as Rhino Pleco's and when full grown still maintain there dark coloration. Also P. Scrophus has a notch on its head just like P. gibbiceps and P. joselimaianus but the albino chocolate does not. Albino chocolates actually remind me more of P. pardalis but albino-ish form. I think some just tacked the name chocolate pleco to it due to its color and it got mixed up with the other chocolate pleco/rhino pleco.

Thats why I hate common names sometimes. They make my head hurt.

You are correct, I hate it when people say they have a Rhino when in fact they just have an albino chocolate
