We recently purchased a chocolate chip star roughly 2 weeks ago and he appears to be doing great thus far. I read in another forum that they are very bad to keep because the require live coral as food. The thread said that if it doesnt get coral then it will eventually die of starvation. has anyone ever heard of this? I'm basically looking for any real advice on how to take care of him. i really dont want to cause any harm to the little guy and if the coral thing is true then i will probably return him to my LFS. thanks

ive seen them feed on squid and clam before. Both of which you should be able to purchase at your local Pet shop, specialty shop anyways. Otherwise the nutritional value it gets from coral, being carnivors in nature, is hard to replicate, meaning this species life span is shorter then normal. None of this info is from a site forsay but what ive heard in the past. Good luck, hope this helps a bit.

You should easily be able to purchase squid for cheap in a produce store.

my chocolate loves to eat my mushrooms bad idea to buy one if you have coral. But he also loves freez dried krill
