Choice of two sumps??

I've just picked up a sump as part of a tank I bought:

Obviously it was used on a marine tank. I'm unsure how this sump works in practice but there are a few dividers etc.

At present I have a 24 gallon tank that has a filter sock, stacks of ceramic media and a return pump.

The sump I have just picked up is 30 gallon, so I'd probably get an extra 3 gallon water volume when it's up and running. Is there anything to gain by using this setup over my existing? Or I could just sell it on...

I say sell it or use it when you get another tank Your current setup sounds good and why fix it when it ain't broke. Especially for three more gallons.

That's what I was thinking, although I do like my gadgets and it would look pretty cool mind...

I think I'm going to use it after all, I've gave it a good clean and it's come up a treat.

How would I lay that sump out? Would I be better off using some foam rather than filter socks?
