i am in the process of rebuilding my stand for a 240 acrylic. i was totally ignorant of wood grades, different species, hard vs soft, etc...

what i would like to know is what wood(s) i should be using for the building of a stand. also i had no idea how many health warnings pressure treated lumber had. i now fear i have somehow poisoned myself as i took no precautions when handling the wood. do any stores even sell wood that isnt PT? some one please educate me!!!

use the woods thats made from trees goofball.... no need to get super fancy unless you are making a show piece... and even then no point in building the whole thing out of top dollar wood... a $50 sander and a $50 router cant turn a pile of 2x4s into something decent..

obviously if you want to stain the stand then nice looking woodgrains matter... but im a big fan of black stands so just always build it with impressing me in mind and you will never go wrong..

myself and jim (badreverend) will be reworking the stand for the 220 tomorrow if you get bored.... and if youve got long skinny arms ive got some bulkheads in the overflow that need to be replaced...

treated wood wont kill you. i work with wood all day. im still here. use pine fore framing. maple is going down in price almost every day. you can get fancy .or plain.it's up to ypu.

no england v wales was this morning... so far i watched that.. ate a sammach and drank some beer.. im thinking i might head over to jims in a bit but at the same time its raining and i really think the idea of more beer and no work just might win out.... then again i could just head over to jims and drink beer and fall asleep on his couch...
