im picking up a 6'x3' ray tank this weekend, it may be a while before its up and running. i just cant stop thinking of all the possibilities. i like the tiled look but the wife doesnt. i like the black sand but its expensive here, white sand is dirt cheap but im afraid it will wash their colors out. never tried bare bottom but too plain for my taste. id like a grey sand but i cant find it anywhere

What are you going to keep for rays? I prefer natural colored sand/fine gravel.

IMO stay away from the tahitian moon sand if anything go with a color quartz T grade black sand. When I hade the tahitian moon sand it got kicked up into all my filters and just drove me nuts. I put a nice quartz sand in my new tank and love it, so much less trouble.

I would avoid the tahitian black, as tempting as it is, due to the very small grain size. For my tanks I am sticking with Torpedo Beach, good size sand grain that doesn't stick to the rays or get kicked up by them. Its an off white colored sand, I have motoros, marbles, hystrix, and a henlei all on it and they all look great.
