chrome tank

i had went to an aucttion and had bought a 5gal aquarium for 2$ and it has a chrome lighht topper and chrome angle iron all around it and a slate bottom i think it is slate for the bottom comment back if you have ever herd of one and if it is worth anything ..

yes they can be worth money if in good condition and they can suck to reseal

In fact back in the day before in tank heaters the slate served 2 purposes 1 as the bottom an 2 as a way of heating the tank.Candles or a heat source were put under the slate,the
slate got warm and heated the water-Anne

the main reason they have gone away is they were expensive to construct compared to all glass and silicone tanks

I have a 29 and a 5 like that. Both ready for a reseal. It's hard to find lids that fit them perfectly anymore. I recommend versatops to those unlucky enough to have the right hood.
