I love the stock. That's a lot of loaches. Is there a reason you don't give them some caves or something to hide behind? In my experience it makes them a little more active.

Thanks for the comment. As for the non existing decos. My reasoning is that I've always used bogwood and malaysian driftwood in all my tanks. Wanted to try something new. In fact, have accumulated quite a bit of it. These clowns were just introduced into this 6x2x26 about 3 weeks ago from their 155 gal. Had decos in the first week, but the lights being turned on made them very skittish and bumped into all the driftwood and scuff up their snouts. Plus, what made me take them out is the 4 african arowana are going to the bottom to sift sand frequently. At the moment, I'm liking the aesthetic of it. They seem more comfortable in my opinion. Since, they are in a large bunch in an open area. It's differs when there is less in population. Of course, there are those who may disagree.

Plus, all the waste from the livestock and waste gets sifted into the filters on a deco-less tank.

I can clearly see the benefits of not having decor. My loaches are the opposite and go bonkers if I take my wood out. Maybe if you dim the lights a bit (move lights further from tank? take a bulb out?) they'll be less afraid? Mine don't even flinch when my lights come off/on and my tanky is decently bright, and on timers. Mine used to be pretty skittish but they're rather comfortable now. If I spent a bit of time I could probably get them to eat out of my fingers :)

They hated it when I take my decorations out. Keep in mind, this bare sanded tank is going on 3 weeks. I figured that if I'm spending on this kind of cash on clowns. That I would like to see them more often such as 100% of the time, lol! If I get bored again and looking for a change. Can always put the driftwood back in.

Love the loaches, Sam! I need to come by peep game. I'll holler the next time I'm in that side of the Couv.

If you ever need to re-home aNilo, you know who to call! ;-)

Very true. I was kind of pissed off when I bought my 5 largest ones and they were super social for a day or two, but then hid for about 45 days. It seems to take the bigger guys a pretty long time to get settled. Now they lay sideways on the bottom all over my tank out in the open all day, and dog-pile each other.

The bigger ones always hide more than the smaller ones. It was one of the reasons why in the beginning that I was going to quit on clowns. Even listed my first 5 or 6 clowns for sale a while back ranging from 5"-7". It was not their fault. The OG crew that I still have now were in a heavily DW and planted tank way back when.
