They are a fabulous cichlids that come from riverine habitat.
They can be a bit aggressive, but mine were not overly so, kept in a high current environment
The pair spawned at a fairly small size in a community tank, male 5" female 3".
I can't find ANY info about these online? Someone has to know something about them... Size? Temperment? Let me know seems to be pretty rare and for free I might grab them
Hmm the fast current was all I really found too. Nothing on size though. I have a spare 125 I could set up and put a lot of current. I don't know what I'd add as far as tank mates though.
My male got to about 10". As you can see I kept them with Amphilophous amarillo, Paraneetroplus gibbiceps, and festae, and a few Madagascans, but moved them to their own tank when a 2nd spawning became evident. I was also able to provide a stronger current in the 2nd tank, that some of the other cichlids probably didn't find comfortable.
They were very partial to leafy greens, like romaine lettuce, and believe they are algae grazers in nature.
I started with 4 or 5, and the alpha male whittled them down to the pair. He killed her after the 2nd spawn, think I then took him to auction.
