Hello, does any one have any tips on growing out 6 chuco microphthalmus in a 150g with lots of flow and a veggie based diet? Also what growth rate is about normal for them?
Thanks

Mine went from 1.5" juvies, to about 7" in 7 months, with multiple, daily smal feedings, and every other day water changes to keep nitrate minimall.
They were also grown out in a 150 size tank, with some other "non-similar" looking juvie cichlids.

Flow was provided by a 1500 gph sump pump, and an extra powerhead.

If i were to do it again, I would probably use even more and stronger power heads, to create more flow than before,
There was some intraspecies aggression in the 150 as they attained size, which I attribute to not enough energy being dedicated to fighting the flow, so allowed them to became focus that excess on themselves.
The shot below is the kind of habitat they may be found in.

Although the video below is aimed at reef keepers, it has some interesting info that can be applied to rheophillic species .

Beside extra flow, back then I wasn't using dither fish, as much as I believe I should have.

These days, seeing the ratio of dither fish to cichlids, in the rivers where I collect, I get the feeling they would have also been a great distraction to help against intraspecies aggression. And the native tetras (like Astyanax, or Roeboides) easily handle the strong flow these cichlids are accustomed to.
