i feel sorry for that oscar. its gonna get mutilated here one day soon by that buttikoferi.....not jokin either. those guys get to be huge and rough. they will make short work of an oscar in anything other than a very very large tank!! nice set up by the way.

Nice. I was thinink of getting one but now after i heard what Centralmayhem said i don't think i will. watch them and make sure the oscar don't get hurt.

How do you guys know he doesn't have a HUGE tank as it is?

their in a 60gal, it's ok for now, upgrading to a 140gal in jan. my FH and Pbass are in a different tank with the RTGG's. yeah, was concerened about the butti's aggression against the oscars. i've been watching him for 2 months at my LFS. he was in a 30 with a around 15 other pretty agro fish, GT's, Texas, and the semi agro oscars. i'm on good terms with the people there and we've been watching the butti for awhile. seems he's more territorial then simply agro. none of the other fish ever went to his side of the tank at the LFS. seems that he's taken up the same pattern in my tank. at first my 3 oscars mobbed him, but the butti put a stop to that very quickly. now he has established his territiory and none may enter (except the salvini and red-head)i have barbs in there as distractions to hopefully quell tentions. i'm hoping i have a mildly tempered butti, but i know of their track record. as of know everyone is getting along,i'm hoping it will last, he is a beautiful fish. thanks for all the comments and info

Very nice fish. I actually just got one of these and he is MASSIVE. However he is not NEARLY as aggressive as I have heard. He was actually an early birthday present for me as there was an incredible deal on him. He is full grown (about 14") and extremely thick. Currently my Texas which is about half the size (12" long but half as thick) bully's the Butti. I couldn't believe it. He has been in the tank for about 3 weeks now, and he doesn't hurt anything. The Texas is still the boss of the tank and the Butti keeps out of his way. I'm going to post some pics of him soon. They are very cool fish.

My friend got a smaller one for his tank, but he had to return it about 3 days later as it was VERY agressive and it proceeded to kick the crap out of his young red devil.

So, like all fish, it seems to come down to the personality of the individual fish. On the whole though they are quite agressive and they should definitely be watched.
